My dear friend Jackie Lea just wrote a blog post (which you can see here) about the Bible and creativity. In the post, Jackie pulls out verses that describe God’s character. In the Bible, God is referred to as a potter (Isaiah 64:8), a weaver (Psalm 139), an author (Acts 3:15; Hebrews 12:2), and a singer (Zephaniah 3:17). As I read through these lovely descriptions of our Father, I started tearing up. I was not only getting emotional because of how beautiful our God is, but I was also getting emotional because I like to do those things too.  As I learn more about our Father, I see him in me and if you’re like me, it’s hard for you to even fathom the goodness of God residing in you.

I’ve never had the greatest view of myself, but to see glimpses of my heavenly Father in my life, I can’t help but thank him for living in me, thank him for creating me in HIS image (Gen 1:27), thank him that I am a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17) and PRAISE him that any good in me is from him (Mark 10:18, Rom 7:18). I no longer dwell on the things that I can or can’t do, who I am and who I’m not, but dwell on my creative and loving Father who is everything I want to be and more.
